Long-Term Care Guarantee: Protect Yourself from Loss of Autonomy with GenialLife

A novelty for the Italian market: GenialLife has thought of a new solution against the loss of self-sufficiency, useful for meeting immediate needs.

By activating the Long-Term Care guarantee, in case of loss of autonomy of the insured in performing a series of basic daily activities - before the contract expires and in the absence of exclusion cases - GenialLife ensures the payment of an additional capital specified in the policy equal to €50,000.

What is meant by loss of self-sufficiency?

A person is considered to be in a state of loss of self-sufficiency if they are unable to perform, permanently and presumably irreversibly, at least 4 out of 6 of the following ADLs (Activities of Daily Living):

  1. Bathing: the ability to wash in the bath or shower (and also to enter and exit the bath or shower independently);
  2. Dressing and undressing: the ability to put on, take off, fasten and unfasten any type of clothing and possibly also suspenders, artificial limbs, or other prosthetic devices without the assistance of another person;
  3. Using the toilet: the ability to maintain a reasonable level of personal hygiene (e.g., washing, shaving, combing hair, etc.);
  4. Transferring: the ability to move from bed to a chair or wheelchair and vice versa without the help of another person;
  5. Continence: the ability to control bodily functions or otherwise urinate and defecate in a way that maintains a satisfactory level of personal hygiene;
  6. Feeding: the ability to feed oneself independently, even with food prepared by others, and to drink without the help of another person.
